Training & Education

The MPRC is committed to the provision of education to consumers, students, trainees and the general community.

Faculty members are available to participate in local seminars, workshops and in-services and are available for consultation to mental health professionals in the community.

Training opportunities are available at all levels of education. Undergraduate internships, usually through the UMBC Shriver Center, can be arranged.

MPRC Faculty are involved in teaching at the University of Maryland, Medical School for medical students, psychiatry residents, and fellows.

Medical students can be involved at the MPRC as part of the Combined Accelerated Program in Psychiatry (CAPP), and residents can participate either as part of the Resident Research Track or as a fourth year elective.

In both experiences, residents take on clinical responsibilities and work with a mentor to develop a research project that may be clinically oriented or related to the biological aspects of schizophrenia.

Post-graduate research fellowships are also available for eligible applicants.
