Referrals can come from family members, private practice settings, community mental health centers, or hospital admission units
Individuals are eligible for our program if:
- They are between the ages of 12-35.
- They have experienced their first episode of psychosis within the past 2 years.
- They have average or greater cognitive functioning (IQ>70).
- The psychosis is not known to be caused by:
- Pervasive developmental disorder and/or autism spectrum disorder
- Psychotic disorder due to another medical condition including medication induced psychotic disorder
- The temporary effects of substance use or withdrawal (individuals who use substances can still be referred)
- They live within 30 miles of our program.
Please note that some things may make individuals ineligible for our program. All are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. These include:
- Certain medical conditions
- Substance use disorder with a high degree of severity requiring focused treatment
- Current legal issues
We are a training and research program. This means that individuals will be presented with opportunities to give their opinions on how our program is running and how it could be improved, as well as to participate in projects that help us learn about psychosis and its treatment. All are offered the opportunity to participate if and when they are interested in doing so.
